LED is characterized by its small size, low power consumption, environmental protection, durability and rich color light source. Favored by the majority of users. However, one of the bottlenecks facing the development of LED lighting is heat dissipation. This paper will introduce the importance of heat dissipation technology in LED lighting by analyzing the impact of heat problems in the lighting process on LED, and summarize and analyze the current and future heat dissipation technology.
First, the heating problem and impact of LED lighting
1. Heating problem of LED lighting
In the process of using LED lighting, the same as using traditional lighting methods, electrical energy needs to be converted into light energy. However, in these two ways, none of them can completely convert electrical energy into light energy, and only a small part of the electrical energy can be converted into light energy, and most of the rest of the electrical energy (60% to 70%) is converted into heat energy in the process of LED lighting and lighting. Especially for high-power LED devices and lighting fixtures, as the power continues to increase, the temperature of the LED internal chip will gradually rise, and the performance of the LED internal chip and other devices will decline as the temperature rises, or even fail. Eventually LED device can not work. Fundamentally speaking, the increase of junction temperature reduces the probability of PN junction luminescence recombination. The performance in the light source is the reduction of luminous brightness, resulting in saturation phenomenon. Therefore, the heating problem is an urgent problem to be solved in the development process of LED.
2. The impact of heating problems on LED
As mentioned in the above heating problem, the heating problem will not only affect the life of the LED device, but also affect the brightness. Experience has proved that the life of LED, especially high-power LED, mainly depends on the junction temperature of the chip, the higher the temperature. The lower the reliability, the shorter the working life. Therefore, it is not only necessary to design LED devices comprehensively from the aspects of LED materials, production methods, package structure and luminous principle, but more importantly, to solve the heat dissipation problem in LED devices and lamps, choose the appropriate package structure and reasonable heat dissipation mode, and apply it to LED lighting.
